Job description

Shape the Future of Vocational Education in Auckland
Be part of one of the most significant organisational and digital transformation programmes in New Zealand's tertiary education sector.

This is more than a Change Manager role. It's an opportunity to play a pivotal part in the creation of a new future for vocational education across Auckland.

Unitec and Manukau Institute of Technology as one, is embarking on a transformational journey that will redefine how we support learners, staff, industry and communities. Bringing together two highly respected institutions with more than 50 years of educational excellence, this once-in-a-generation opportunity will help shape a modern, connected and future-focused organisation.

We're looking for an experienced Change Manager who is excited by complexity, inspired by purpose, and ready to leave a lasting legacy.

Why this opportunity stands out

Few roles offer the chance to lead change at this scale.

In this two-year fixed term opportunity, you'll work at the heart of a major transformation programme, influencing enterprise-wide change initiatives that will impact every part of the organisation. From modernising core business systems to enhancing the learner experience, you'll help shape the way thousands of people work, connect and succeed.

This is the kind of experience that becomes a highlight on your CV.

You’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Lead change across high-profile, enterprise-wide transformation programmes.
  • Work alongside senior leaders and strategic stakeholders across the organisation.
  • Influence the future operating model of a newly unified tertiary institution.
  • Build and embed organisational change capability.
  • Deliver meaningful outcomes that directly improve experiences for staff and learners.
  • Be part of a collaborative and highly skilled transformation team.
About the role

Reporting to the Head of Digital Delivery, you’ll partner closely with leaders, project teams and stakeholders to design and deliver people-centred change strategies that drive engagement, readiness, adoption and long-term success.

You’ll play a key role across several major initiatives, including:

  • Finance Management System (FMS) replacement
  • HR platform replacement
  • Identity and email consolidation
  • CRM and Student Journey platforms
  • Additional enterprise-wide digital and business transformation programmes

Success in this role will come from your ability to influence, inspire and support people through change while ensuring transformation outcomes are successfully embedded across the organisation.

What you’ll bring

You’ll be an experienced change practitioner with a track record of delivering successful outcomes in large and complex environments.

To be successful you’ll have:

  • 7+ years' experience leading organisational change across programmes and projects
  • Strong experience delivering digital, business, and technology-enabled transformation
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
  • Proven capability developing and implementing change strategies, communications, training, engagement, and readiness plans
  • Experience working with recognised change frameworks such as Prosci, CMI or similar methodologies
  • A tertiary qualification in Change Management or equivalent practical experience

Most importantly, you’ll be a trusted advisor who can build confidence, create alignment, and help people successfully navigate change.

This is a rare opportunity to contribute to a transformation programme with genuine scale, visibility and purpose.

You’ll join a passionate team committed to creating positive change, while gaining experience that will strengthen your professional profile and open doors for future career opportunities.

If you’re looking for a role where you can influence strategy, shape culture, build capability and make a meaningful impact, we’d love to hear from you.

Join us and help lead a transformation that will define the future of vocational education in Auckland.
