Job summary

Amisfield in Central Otago, New Zealand, is seeking a passionate Cellar Door Host to guide visitors through tastings and share our story. You will help guests understand Amisfield wines, lead experiences, and build strong customer relationships in a hands-on, guest-facing role.

You will receive wine and sales training and become part of a team recognised for Michelin-star quality. The role offers stability, commission potential, and weekend/holiday roster flexibility.

Qualifications

• Minimum 12 months relevant experience in hospitality, retail, wine and sales.
• Strong passion for wine and learning more about Amisfield wines.
• Excellent people skills and ability to engage guests from around the world.

Responsibilities

• Welcome and host guests, delivering engaging wine tasting experiences.
• Lead cellar door experiences, masterclasses and private tastings.
• Share passion and knowledge of Amisfield wines and Central Otago.
• Drive wine sales, grow Wine Club membership and build loyalties.
• Manage bookings, inquiries and follow-up communications for a seamless guest experience.
• Support direct-to-consumer wine sales including orders and dispatch.
• Maintain a beautifully presented Cellar Door with stock and daily sales.

About the Role

We’re looking for a passionate, engaging Cellar Door Host to join our dynamic team.

This is a hands-on, guest-facing role where you’ll bring our wines to life — guiding visitors through tastings, sharing our story, and turning every guest into an Amisfield ambassador.

You’ll receive wine and sales training, and work with the rest of the team to achieve cellar door targets. You’ll also gain insight into our winemaking, viticulture, and restaurant operations — an incredible opportunity to grow your knowledge and career in the wine industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Welcome and host guests, delivering exceptional and engaging wine tasting experiences.
• Lead the Amisfield Cellar Door Experience, Masterclasses and Private Bespoke Tastings.
• Share your passion and knowledge of Amisfield wines, our story and Central Otago with customers.
• Drive wine sales, grow Wine Club membership and build strong, lasting customer relationships.
• Manage bookings, customer enquiries and follow-up communications to create a seamless guest experience.
• Support direct-to-consumer wine sales, including order processing, customer follow-up and dispatch.
• Maintain a beautifully presented Cellar Door while overseeing stock, daily sales and operational requirements.
• Represent Amisfield at selected off-site tastings, hospitality events and industry functions, while supporting wine knowledge across the wider team.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

• Has a minimum of 12 months relevant experience in hospitality, retail, wine and sales.
• Has a genuine love of wine and a thirst to learn more.
• Enjoys engaging with people from all over the world and creating memorable experiences.
• Is confident and compelling when it comes to selling our wine.
• Is a proactive and positive team player with strong communication and organisational skills.
• Passionate about and committed to the hospitality industry.
• (Bonus!) Have a WSET qualification, Duty Manager’s Certificate, or CRM experience.
