Job summary

Animates Timaru is seeking a casual customer service assistant to greet customers and support pets and their parents. You’ll help with product recommendations, nutrition guidance, and in-store service. Training is extensive, with opportunities to learn about pet care and responsible product selection.

Varsity team environment, inclusive culture, and the chance to contribute to community wellbeing for pets. Flexibility to cover weekdays, weekends, and public holidays is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in a customer facing role (retail experience preferred).
• Physical ability to lift stock up to 20kg.
• Flexibility to work weekdays, weekends and public holidays.
• A positive attitude and dedication to being a valuable team member.

Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional customer service to pet parents and their pets.
• Fulfill eCommerce orders and assist in-store operations.
• Provide product guidance and advice on pet nutrition and care.
• Assist with stock handling and occasional high-shelf lifting.

As part of our busy Timaru store, you'll join a successful, customer orientated team, delivering exceptional service to our customers and their pets.
This is a casual opportunity which will include working weekdays, weekends and public holidays, including school hours, so flexibility is a must.

What will I be doing?

This isn’t your regular customer service role. Here at Animates, the advice you give and the products you sell make a real difference to the lives of pets.

Our values-led culture and extensive training will develop your expertise to provide specialist nutrition advice, suggest educational toys and know what fish species make good tank-mates + much more! Other daily tasks include fulfilling eCommerce orders, and you may be required to lift heavy items e.g. bags of dog food.
