Job summary

Barnett, a fast growing construction firm in the top of the South Island, is hiring carpenters and joiners for 3 roles on current projects. Positions are full-time and permanent with 30-45 hours per week.

The work involves raft foundations, hand and power tools, formwork, setting out, and site preparation. Ideal candidates have 3+ years in carpentry, strong English, and a reliable, safety-conscious approach.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience in carpentry, builder or construction labouring.
• Competency in English with good verbal and written communication skills.
• Skilled with standard building and construction tools and safety equipment.

Responsibilities

• Load/unload building materials such as planks, pods, mesh, braces, steel pins and reinforcing to locations on site or in the shed.
• Mark outs for excavation.
• Spray, string line, measure, and mark profiles for plumbers.
• Drive in steel pins to building line and screw in braces.
• Screwing braces and rebates to planks.
• Roll out polythene, place pods, spacers, reinforcing steel and mesh.
• Operate rebar tie wire tools and cutters.
• Removal of formwork after concrete placement by others.
• Occasionally dig trenches and backfill holes.
• Leave sites clean and tidy for next stage.
