Job summary

Summerset Milldale in Auckland is seeking an inspirational and experienced Care Centre Manager to lead our team of nurses and caregivers, delivering the exceptional aged care we’re known for. Reporting to the Village Manager, you’ll command daily operations, staffing, budgeting, compliance and ensure sound clinical decision-making with a focus on resident wellbeing and family trust.

You’ll build a high-performing culture, recruit and develop staff, engage stakeholders, and drive quality outcomes

Qualifications

• Clinical leadership experience in aged care or similar settings.
• Deep knowledge of Te Whatu Ora standards and NZ health regulations.
• Proven people-management skills with recruitment and development focus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations, staffing, budgeting and compliance.
• Coach and develop nurses and caregivers for high performance.
• Build relationships with residents, families and external stakeholders.
• Support clinical decision-making and ensure quality of care.
• Lead audits, policy rollout and liaison with NASC and Te Whatu Ora.
• Foster a strong, connected team culture across the village.

Job Description:

We’re on the lookout for an inspirational and experienced Care Centre Manager to lead our team. You’ll play a critical role in building a high-performing team of Nurses and Caregivers, and ensure we continue to deliver the exceptional care we’re known for.

What you’ll be doing:

Reporting to the Village Manager, you’ll be responsible for the care centre’s daily operations and strategic leadership, including:

• Full accountability for staffing, budgeting, and compliance
• Leading and coaching your team with a strong focus on recruitment, development, and recognition
• Building meaningful relationships with residents, their families, and stakeholders – and being their trusted point of contact, especially in sensitive situations
• Supporting sound clinical decision-making and ensuring quality care at all times
• Managing audits, policy implementation, and working with NASC, Te Whatu Ora and other key external agencies
• Driving a strong, connected team culture across the village

This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, 8am – 5pm,with some occasional on-call responsibilities that include weekends and nights.

Qualifications:

You’ll bring experience in a clinical environment with a deep understanding of the aged care sector and Te Whatu Ora standards. You’ll be an experienced manager with solid aged care experience in New Zealand, ready for a new challenge, you’ll be passionate about leading people, driving quality outcomes, and making a real difference.

You’re someone who leads with empathy, builds trust, and can bring out the best in others. You’re confident balancing people leadership with operational management, and thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
