The Cardiac Ultrasound Department at Dunedin Hospital provides a comprehensive range of adult and paediatric echocardiography services. Our team performs transthoracic echocardiograms, including contrast and bubble studies, as well as transoesophageal echocardiography, dobutamine stress echocardiography and exercise stress echocardiography.
We predominantly use GE ultrasound systems and work closely with our cardiologists, cardiac physiologists, nursing teams and the wider Cardiology Department to provide high-quality, patient-centred care. Our workload offers a balanced mix of inpatient and outpatient scanning, providing variety and opportunities to develop a broad range of clinical skills.
The department is accredited with the European Society of Cardiology, reflecting our commitment to maintaining high clinical and professional standards. We are seeking an experienced Cardiac Sonographer with excellent communication skills and the ability to perform effectively in high-pressure situations.
Paediatric and Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) experience, along with proficiency in GE ultrasound systems and SYNGO software, would be advantageous but is not essential, as comprehensive training and support can be provided.
This role falls under the terms and conditions of the Apex Sonographers Collective Agreement (1 April 2024 – 30 November 2026), Sonographer Scale, Step 5, $137,522 per annum, pro rata.
