Ideal candidates hold a Master’s degree or higher, with strong adult education experience and a culturally responsive approach. Travel with learners is expected as part of personal journeys and outcomes.

Are you an outstanding educator experienced in facilitating ākonga (learners), with a desire to help people transform their lives and realise their full potential?

Capable NZ is Otago Polytechnic’s provider of Work-Based Learning (WBL) Qualifications offering the Independent Learning Pathway (ILP) and Professional Practice Qualifications, re-engaging experienced adults with education. We provide people with extensive professional and community experience, the opportunity to earn a tertiary qualification based on their skills and expertise, and through new learning at and through their workplace.

Due to growth throughout Aotearoa/New Zealand, we need talented facilitators to work in the following programmes:

• Bachelor of Applied Management
• Bachelor of Social Services
• Masters of Professional Practice

As a highly competent Facilitator, you will travel with learners through their personal journey of reflection and self‑assessment.

Our team is largely remote, working from home and utilising technology such as Teams to connect with our learners and colleagues. We have offices in Dunedin and Auckland should you wish to work onsite from an office.

You will possess a strong understanding of adult learning, ideally including work-based learning, and recognising the significance of ‘ako’ and how it applies to the learner. You will be adaptable to the needs of your learners, driven to help them succeed, and work well within appropriate graduate profiles, policies and processes.

You will have extensive experience in either leadership, management, adult education, or social services. You will have a strong professional practice framework, be a culturally responsive practitioner and be self‑leading, organised and thorough. Your style will be energising and results‑focused.

Reflection will be natural to you and your curiosity to learn about others will make you a good listener with strong questioning skills. A deep sense of accountability will drive you to go the “extra mile” for your learners; you will have their best interests at heart and mind. As part of a self‑leading team, you will communicate effectively, take responsibility for your work, be accountable to your learners and your colleagues, and live the values of Otago Polytechnic and Capable NZ.

You will hold a Master’s degree or higher and ideally an Adult Tertiary Teaching or equivalent qualification.

Through recognition, empowerment and inclusion, you will give greater acknowledgement to the unmet needs of Māori, Pasifika and disabled people and their whanau.

You will have demonstrable health and safety best practices and enjoy being part of a team who support each other. You will easily be able to build and maintain relationships and communicate well via email, phone and face‑to‑face.
