Aotearoa New Zealand Association of Social Workers is seeking a Store Manager to oversee the day-to-day operation of a busy cafe. This hands-on role requires strong barista skills and active involvement on the coffee machine while leading a team in a fast-paced environment.
You will manage staff, ensure high standards of coffee, food presentation and customer service, and work closely with owners to continuously improve operations.
As Store Manager, you will be responsible for the smooth day-to-day operation of the cafe. This is a hands-on management role where strong barista skills are essential, and you will be expected to work on the coffee machine when required. You will be actively involved in day-to-day operations while leading a team in a busy, fast-paced environment.
Key responsibilities
Leading and supporting the FOH and barista team
Managing daily workflow and maintaining efficient service
Working on the coffee machine and supporting the barista team during busy periods
Maintaining high standards of coffee, food presentation and customer service
Staff supervision, training and performance support
Rostering and coordinating staff coverage
Handling customer feedback and resolving issues professionally
Ensuring opening, closing and daily operational procedures are completed correctly
Working closely with the owners to continuously improve the cafe's operation and team performance
About you
Minimum 2 years of cafe/hospitality management experience
Minimum 2 years of barista experience
Strong and confident barista skills
Experience working in a busy, high-volume cafe environment
Strong leadership and team management skills
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Ability to stay calm, organised and efficient during busy periods
A hands-on attitude and willingness to support the team wherever needed
Good understanding of daily cafe operations, staff supervision and workflow
Reliability, initiative and a strong sense of responsibility
