Job summary

Metlifecare is looking for a fabulous Café Assistant to join Edgewater Village in Pakuranga, East Auckland. This permanent part-time role runs Tuesday to Friday 10am–3pm (18 hours per week), delivering friendly service and a welcoming dining experience for residents, visitors and staff.

You will take orders, brew coffee, serve meals, assist in kitchen prep, handle the cash register and keep the cafe clean. Extra shifts may be available when others are on leave.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service and friendly demeanor.
• Good command of spoken and written English.
• Cash handling and basic point-of-sale experience.
• Hygiene & Food Handling Certificate preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Take food and beverage orders from residents, visitors and staff.
• Make coffee using semi-automatic machine.
• Serve and collect meals in the café.
• Assist the Cook with food preparation in the kitchen.
• Operate the cash register and handle payments.
• Maintain cleanliness of café equipment and dishes.

About the role

We are looking for a fabulous Café Assistant to work at our in our lovely Edgewater Village in Pakuranga, East Auckland. Reporting to the Food Services Manager, you will be providing exceptional service and a great dining experience!

This is a permanent, part-time position working Tuesday to Friday 10am to 3pm =18hrs week.

There may also be the opportunity for you to pick up additional shifts if someone is on leave.

Some of the great things you will be doing:

• Taking food and beverage orders from our residents, visitors and staff
• Making amazing cups of coffee (semi-automatic machine)
• Serving and collecting meals in our café
• Assisting the Cook with food prep in the Kitchen
• Operating the cash register
• General cleaning including café equipment and washing up in the kitchen

About you

You have exceptional customer service skills and a vibrant and welcoming personality.

Some things that will support your application include:

• A warm and friendly nature and a ‘Can do attitude’
• Mature and reliable with exceptional communication skills
• A good command of spoken and written English
• A Hygiene & Food Handling Certificate (not essential) as well as and/or commercial kitchen experience
