Job summary

Summerset Retirement Villages in Blenheim is seeking a Café Assistant for our village café. You will deliver friendly service, prepare coffee and light meals, and help with cabinet food offerings for residents, families, and visitors.

You’ll work with the Chef Manager and Café Supervisor, handling cash and supporting village events. This casual/temporary role requires flexibility across shifts and a positive, can-do attitude.

Job Description

We believe that a great cup of coffee and a warm smile can brighten anyone's day. We're more than just a café, we're a community hub, a space for connection, and a team that supports and looks out for each other. We're now looking for a Café Assistant for our Blenheim village who shares our love for people and hospitality.

You'll play a key role in delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring the smooth running of our café. From making great coffee to creating tasty cabinet food and light meals, you'll help make our café a warm and welcoming place for residents, their families, and visitors. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Preparing, presenting, and serving food and drinks to a high standard
• Assisting with catering for village events and resident functions
• Handling cash and reconciling daily takings

You'll work closely with the Chef Manager, Café Supervisor, and wider village team to deliver a café experience that is welcoming, consistent, and genuinely enjoyable.

This is a casual position with shifts offered on an as-needed basis, often at short notice. Therefore, flexibility and availability to work across varying shifts are important.

You will bring a warm and positive approach to everything you do, along with:
