Job summary

Kaikōura Bakery is seeking a friendly Café All-Rounder to join our busy bakery café team in Kaikōura. The role involves serving customers, making sandwiches and coffees, handling payments, and keeping the café clean and stocked. Start date is mid October 2026, with approx.

35 hours per week and 45+ hours during school holidays and the summer season. We value a positive, can-do attitude, reliability and the ability to learn quickly. Weekend and public holiday availability is required.

Qualifications

• Requires excellent English communication and upbeat customer service.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced café environment.
• Reliability, punctuality and presentable appearance.

Responsibilities

• Serve customers with a smile and take orders.
• Make sandwiches and espresso coffee or other hot drinks.
• Operate the till and handle payments.
• Keep the café clean, tidy and well stocked; assist team as needed.
• Work early mornings and weekends; participate in busy holiday periods.

Café All-Rounder – Join Our Friendly Bakery Team!

Location: Kaikōura Bakery
Start Date: Mid October 2026

We are looking for a friendly, reliable, and enthusiastic Café All-Rounder to join our team.

This is a position of approximately 35 hours per week, with the opportunity to work 45 + hours per week during school holidays and the summer season.

About the Role

You’ll be involved in all aspects of our busy bakery café, including:

• Serving customers with a smile
• Making sandwiches
• Making espresso coffee and other hot drinks
• Operating the till and handling payments
• Keeping the café clean, tidy and well stocked
• General café duties and assisting the team wherever needed

We're Looking For Someone Who:

• Has excellent English communication skills.
• Delivers outstanding customer service.
• Has a positive, can-do attitude and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment.
• Learns quickly and is able to work independently after a short training period.
• Is reliable, punctual, well presented and takes pride in their work.
• Works well as part of a team.
• Is available to work weekends and public holidays when required.
• Can start early morning (e.g. 5:00am)

Preferred (but not essential)

• Previous café or hospitality experience.
• Barista coffee-making experience.
