Foodstuffs NZ in Christchurch is seeking a Trade Qualified Butcher to step up as Assistant Butchery Manager (2IC). You will lead a large team, inspire performance and take ownership of daily operations in the Butchery Department.

You will plan production, manage stock and ordering, drive profitability, ensure high quality products and strict food safety standards, and support the manager in their absence. If you are hands-on, commercially minded and ready to impact every day, join a busy, modern

Competenze

• Trade qualified butcher with proven leadership and staff coaching experience.
• Experience in production planning, stock control and GP management.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of ordering, waste management and food safety compliance.
• Excellent communication and a collaborative, solutions-focused approach.
• SAP experience would be an advantage.

Are you a Trade Qualified Butcher with the skills to lead, the passion to create and the drive to make things happen?

We're looking for a BUTCHERY SUPERSTAR ready to step up, take ownership and help drive our Butchery Department to the next level!

Our Butchery team is strategically focused, goal driven and passionate about producing exceptional products. We're looking for an energetic, motivated and commercially minded Assistant Butchery Manager (2IC) who shares that ambition.

This isn't just about cutting meat. It's about leading people, driving performance and delivering results!

WHAT'S ON THE CHOPPING BLOCK?

Working alongside our Butchery Manager, you'll play a key role in the day-to-day success of the department.

You’ll be expected to:

• LEAD & INSPIRE – Motivate, coach and develop a large team, setting clear expectations and leading by example.
• DRIVE PRODUCTION – Plan, organise and oversee daily production, ensuring quality, efficiency and deadlines are consistently achieved.
• THINK COMMERCIALLY – Identify opportunities to maximise gross profit, minimise waste and improve productivity.
• OWN THE DETAILS – Support ordering, stock management, inventory accuracy, food safety and operational compliance.
• INNOVATE & CREATE – Bring fresh thinking, product ideas and opportunities to keep our customers coming back.
• STEP UP & TAKE CHARGE – Confidently lead the department in the Butchery Manager's absence.
• DELIVER RESULTS – Help turn department goals into measurable success.

HAVE YOU GOT WHAT IT TAKES?

We're looking for someone who brings more than technical ability to the table.

You must be a Trade Qualified Butcher

with:

• Proven experience in production planning, staff supervision and training.
• Strong leadership skills and the confidence to hold people accountable.
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines in a busy production environment.
• A sound understanding of ordering, stock control, waste management and GP performance.
• A genuine passion for quality products, presentation and exceptional customer service.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative, solutions-focused approach.
• Accuracy with figures, stock counts and operational processes.
• The initiative to identify improvements rather than wait to be told what needs doing.
• A positive attitude, reliability and the determination to help the team succeed.

Experience with SAP would be a definite advantage.

THE ROSTER

Sunday & Monday: 4:00am – 1:30pm

Tuesday to Thursday: 4:00am – 12:30pm

42 hours per week

Early starts, productive days and Friday and Saturday off!
