Auckland Council's Auckland Convention Bureau is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager for a two-year fixed-term contract in Auckland. You will deliver measurable sales results and help grow Auckland’s share of domestic and international business events, driving visitation and economic impact.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Business Development Manager to join the Auckland Convention Bureau on a two-year fixed-term contract. In this role, you will deliver measurable sales results and help grow Auckland’s share of the domestic and international business-events market, with a strong focus on increasing visitation and economic impact across the city centre.
Through targeted sales and marketing activities, you will generate and convert bids, leads and new business opportunities while positioning Auckland as a premium business-events destination. You will promote the services of the Auckland Convention Bureau and the benefits of hosting events in Tāmaki Makaurau, while delivering value and return on investment for key stakeholders including members of the destination partnership programme.
In this role, you will:
You will be a confident and credible ambassador for the Auckland Convention Bureau, with the ability to promote Auckland as a leading business-events destination and build lasting relationships across the sector. You will bring strong sales, marketing and customer‑engagement capabilities, supported by excellent communication, presentation, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
Commercially minded and solutions‑focused, you will act decisively to maximise opportunities, apply sound professional judgement and use customer insights and CRM systems to strengthen engagement and deliver responsive service. You will also be innovative in your approach, continuously looking for ways to improve processes and create greater value for clients, partners and stakeholders.
