Job summary

WorkSafe New Zealand is seeking a Business Analyst to help solve complex business challenges and design better ways of working. You’ll work across initiatives focused on business design, services, business processes, and operating model changes, using analysis and stakeholder engagement to identify practical improvements aligned with WorkSafe’s regulatory role.

Qualifications

  • Strong business analysis skills across processes, ways of working, and services to identify issues and opportunities.
  • Demonstrated ability to turn complex information into clear recommendations.
  • Skilled in gathering and synthesising information from stakeholders.
  • Confidence and experience facilitating workshops and discovery sessions.
  • Expertise documenting requirements, impacts, and future‑state designs.
  • Ability to build relationships and influence across diverse teams.
  • Experience working in a public sector environment with complex stakeholder, governance and decision‑making requirements is preferred

About Your Team / Ko Te Tīma

Enterprise Planning and Implementation is a new group established at WorkSafe to strengthen planning, coordination, and implementation across the organisation, particularly to improve how work is prioritised, sequenced, and supported through to delivery.

The Business Design Services team helps shape how WorkSafe operates by designing practical, effective services, processes, and ways of working. Working alongside planners, designers, subject matter experts, and business leaders, the team supports organisation-wide initiatives that improve how we deliver for New Zealanders.

About The Role / Ō Te Tūranga

As a Business Analyst, you'll play a key role in helping WorkSafe solve complex business challenges and design better ways of working. You'll work across a range of initiatives focused on business design, services, business processes, and operating model changes. You will use analysis, stakeholder engagement, and critical thinking to identify opportunities that support practical improvements to how WorkSafe works.

You will bring a practical regulatory lens to your work, helping ensure design choices are credible, evidence-informed, and aligned with WorkSafe’s role as New Zealand’s primary workplace health and safety regulator.

Salary range / Awhe utu

As part of our remuneration framework, the full salary range for this position is $83,137- $108,442 with the expected appointment base salary $83,137- $91,571 (KiwiSaver/SSRSS employer contributions are additional). From 1 April 2026 our KiwiSaver employer contribution increased to 3.5%.
