Job summary

Auckland Council in Auckland CBD is seeking an experienced Building Surveyor/Inspector to lead inspections across the Central West area, ensuring compliance with the Building Code and Building Act. You will travel to sites and provide clear guidance to builders, homeowners and developers.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in building roles, a relevant qualification or willingness to pursue it, and a full NZ driver's license.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of cumulative experience in a building related environment.
• Qualified or willing to work towards qualifications such as the National Diploma in Building Control Surveying.
• Full, clean NZ Driver’s Licence.
• Excellent communication skills with a range of stakeholders.
• Strong customer service focus and solution-oriented approach.
• Knowledge of the Building Act and Building Code advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Inspect building work to ensure compliance with building consents and codes.
• Provide accurate, timely advice to clients and maintain robust records.
• Apply sound decisions and manage inspections across coverage area.
