Job summary

Ōpōtiki District Council is seeking a Building Control Officer to join our Building and Planning team in the Bay of Plenty. You will conduct building inspections, ensure compliance with the Building Act 2004 and NZ Building Code, and support consent processing to deliver safe, quality outcomes for our community.

Ideal candidates hold R1 minimum in inspections, have knowledge of Quality Management Systems, and demonstrate strong customer service and relationship-building skills to collaborate

Qualifications

• Hold R1 minimum in inspections in accordance with the National Standards.
• Competency in processing building consent applications is desirable.
• Knowledge of Quality Management Systems.
• Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships.
• Be confident and provide exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

• Conduct building inspections and ensure compliance with the Building Act 2004 and NZ Building Code.
• Supporting the processing and administration of building consent applications.
• Investigating dangerous and insanitary building complaints.
• Assisting with Earthquake-Prone Building projects.
