Job summary

Pine Harbour Boat Builders in Beachlands, East Auckland, is seeking an experienced Boat Builder/Repairer to join our small, owner-operated yard at Pine Harbour Marina.

You’ll work across timber and GRP vessels, handling fibreglass repairs, rot and timber replacements, deck installs, refits and interior fit-outs. Steady work, with overtime through summer is available.

Qualifications

• Solid hands-on experience in boatbuilding, marine repair or fibreglass work.
• Own your basic hand tools.
• NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.
• Physically fit — lifting, kneeling and graft in this trade.

Responsibilities

• Fibreglass laminating, gelcoat and structural repairs.
• Rot repairs and timber replacement on classic and modern vessels.
• Teak and cork deck installs and replacements.
• Refits, cabinetry, interior fit-outs and custom modifications.
• Fitting hardware — boarding platforms, hardtops, hatches, through-hulls.

Job description

Pine Harbour Boat Builders is hiring an experienced Boat Builder/Repairer to join our small, owner-operated yard at Pine Harbour Marina, Beachlands — East Auckland's own marine yard, on the water at the Gateway to the Gulf.

We work across timber and GRP vessels: fibreglass and gelcoat repairs, rot and structural repairs, teak and cork decking, refits, cabinetry and interior fit-outs, and general boatbuilding. It's not all glamour — plenty of it is working out why a deck's gone soft or a hull's delaminating — but it's real, skilled trade work, and no two boats are the same.

We're heading into our busiest stretch of the year. Steady work, real overtime if you want it, right through summer.

What you'll be doing

• Fibreglass laminating, gelcoat and structural repairs
• Rot repairs and timber replacement on classic and modern vessels
• Teak and cork deck installs and replacements
• Refits, cabinetry, interior fit-outs and custom modifications
• Fitting hardware — boarding platforms, hardtops, hatches, through-hulls

What you'll need

The details

• 43 hours/week, $35–$45/hr depending on experience (PAYE)
• $1,000 bonus paid at 3 months (on completion of your trial), 6 months, and 12 months — $3,000 total for sticking around
• Family-oriented workplace — we mean that, not just say it.
• Based at Pine Harbour Marina — easy if you're already out this way (Beachlands, Maraetai, Whitford, Clevedon, Howick, Botany); a straightforward run against the traffic if you're not
