Job summary

SouthRoads Ltd, part of the HW Richardson Group, is seeking a Bid Manager/Writer to lead bids from opportunity through contract, turning numbers, stories and strategy into a compelling client proposal.

You will collaborate with estimating, operations and commercial teams to align pricing, risk and compliance, write persuasive tender responses, manage multiple deadlines, and present SouthRoads as the obvious partner.

Qualifications

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strategic thinker who can identify opportunities and shape a winning approach.
• Confident negotiator who can secure favourable terms while maintaining client relationships.
• Solid understanding of civil construction market trends, competitors and regulations.
• Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI); exposure to estimation software is a plus.
• Good commercial and financial acumen.

Responsibilities

• Writing tender responses that don’t read like tender responses—clear, persuasive, and unmistakably SouthRoads.
• Juggling multiple bids and deadlines without dropping the ball (or your sense of humour).
• Teaming up with estimating, operations, and commercial crews to get pricing, risk, and compliance right.
• Being the face of SouthRoads to clients through submissions and negotiations.
• Digging into what worked (and what didn’t) on past bids, and using it to win more of the next ones.

The role

This is the role for someone who gets a genuine buzz from putting together a proposal that wins. You'll own our bids from first opportunity to signed contract — pulling together the numbers, the story, and the strategy, and making sure it all lands on the client's desk looking like the obvious choice.
