Job description

At Mott MacDonald, we employ brilliant people and trust them to do brilliant things. We work as a connected global team, delivering impactful work that helps shape the future of our clients, communities and industry. As an independent, employee-owned business, our people have a real stake in our success and are empowered to make decisions that benefit our clients, each other and the communities we serve.

We are looking for a Bid Advisor to join our New Zealand team and play a key role in helping us pursue and win work across our business. This is a role for someone who enjoys bringing people together, shaping strong client-focused submissions, and creating smart, consistent ways of working that help teams perform at their best.

The opportunity

As Bid Advisor, you will support the planning, coordination and delivery of high-quality bids and proposals across New Zealand. Working closely with our Pursue and Win Manager, business leaders, client directors, market leads and technical teams, you will help turn strategy into compelling, well-structured submissions that clearly show the value Mott MacDonald can bring.

You will be a trusted partner to the business, helping teams understand what makes a strong pursuit, guiding bid strategy, supporting win themes, and making sure each submission is clear, client-focused and aligned with our standards. You will also support local Bid Coordinators, encourage knowledge sharing, and contribute to continuous improvement across our tools, templates and systems.

This role would suit someone who is collaborative, organised and confident working with a range of stakeholders. You will bring energy, curiosity and a practical mindset, with a strong focus on teamwork, innovation and building relationships that help us win the right work.

What you’ll do
  • Lead and coordinate the delivery of high-quality bids, proposals and submissions across a range of opportunities.
  • Work with business leaders, client directors, market leads and technical teams to shape clear pursuit strategies and compelling client messages.
  • Support bid planning, win theme development, storyboarding, review processes and final submission quality.
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships and act as a trusted advisor to the business on bid and pursuit activity.
  • Support and mentor Bid Coordinators, helping balance workloads and encouraging a positive, collaborative team culture.
  • Champion better ways of working by improving templates, guidance, tools and repeatable processes.
  • Use systems such as CRM, Proposal Hub and the APNA WIN Site to track opportunities, manage submissions and promote good data habits.
  • Share insights, lessons learned and proven content to improve how we pursue and win work.
  • Help embed innovation, consistency and quality into our bid processes and client documents.
  • Contribute to a team culture aligned with our Progress, Respect, Integrity, Drive and Excellence values.
About you

You will be someone who enjoys working with people and can confidently bring together different voices, priorities and perspectives to deliver a strong outcome. You will understand the importance of clear communication, thoughtful planning and building trust with stakeholders.

We are looking for someone who brings:

  • Experience in bids, proposals, submissions, business development, marketing, communications or a related professional services environment.
  • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to turn technical and commercial information into clear, client-focused content.
  • Confidence working with senior stakeholders and facilitating conversations that support decision-making and pursuit strategy.
  • A collaborative working style, with a genuine focus on teamwork and helping others succeed.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple bids.
  • A continuous improvement mindset, with an interest in using systems, tools and innovation to improve quality and efficiency.
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to identify risks, opportunities and client priorities.
  • A proactive, curious and positive approach, with the confidence to challenge constructively when needed.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office; experience with Adobe Creative Suite, CRM systems or proposal management tools would be beneficial.
