Job summary

Land Based Training in New Zealand seeks an experienced Apiculture practitioner to provide training and assessment services for our Level 3 Apiculture programme on an independent contractor basis.

You will facilitate practical, hands-on learning, guiding learners through hive management, bee health, seasonal practices and industry best practice, while supporting assessments and ensuring quality delivery.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 3 qualification in Apiculture or a related Primary Industries field.
• Beekeeping experience including hive management and bee health.
• Proven ability to mentor and engage diverse learners.
• Strong literacy and numeracy to support embedded standards.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and assess the Level 3 Apiculture programme, including practical and theory components.
• Plan, prepare, and facilitate engaging training sessions aligned with programme requirements.
• Deliver fortnightly workshops over the 40-week programme (≈20 sessions).
• Maintain training records, assessment marking and learner progress data.
• Integrate literacy and numeracy standards into delivery and support learners.
• Mentor learners toward qualification completion and industry readiness.
• Facilitate practical training in hive management, bee health and safe handling.
• Support learner work placements and liaise with industry stakeholders.
• Ensure services comply with NZQA requirements and internal quality standards.
