BDO Auckland is seeking a seasoned adviser in its East Tamaki office to lead client engagements, provide commercially driven guidance, and supervise teams from planning through delivery. You’ll review financial reports, advise on accounting and tax matters, and collaborate with stakeholders to drive sustainable growth.

The role requires CA-level qualification or progress, excellent communication, and a proactive, client-focused mindset within a collaborative BAS team.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years’ experience in business advisory within a CA environment.
• Accounting background or CA qualification in progress.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong technical capability and analytical thinking.

Responsibilities

• Work with clients to identify business challenges, develop strategic plans and implement solutions that support sustainable growth
• Draft accurate, high-quality advice across accounting standards, tax compliance and business management principles
• Analyse client financial reports and management accounts to deliver meaningful insights
• Advise on tax-effective strategies including trust income distribution, group structures, FBT, GST, PAYE and indirect taxes
• Supervise engagements through to review stage and complete final reviews for small to medium jobs
• Mentor and develop team members to build a high-performance culture within BAS
• Communicate complex matters clearly, both verbally and in writing

About the role

This role, based in our East Tamaki office located in the desirable Highbrook business precinct, offers a challenging and rewarding career with exposure to a wide range of engaging client work.

In this role, you’ll work closely with clients to support and grow their businesses, providing practical, commercially driven advice and leading engagements from planning through to delivery. You’ll supervise team members, review financial reports and deliver clear, accurate guidance on accounting and tax matters.

We are looking for someone who brings experience, strong commercial awareness and a desire to continue growing their career, with:

• Ideally 5+ years’ experience in business advisory within a CA environment
• An accounting background and/or working towards a CA qualification
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong technical capability and analytical thinking
