Job summary

EVT Limited, operating Esther bar at QT Auckland, is seeking a full-time Bar Supervisor. The role leads the bar team, ensures top-tier beverage quality, and oversees service for a premium dining experience. A minimum 40 hours per week is guaranteed, with a hands-on, non-hierarchical approach and a passion for hospitality done properly.

You will train staff, manage rosters, monitor costs, and contribute ideas to keep the offering current and engaging for guests.

Qualifications

• Experience in bar supervisory or senior bartender role within premium dining.
• Solid cocktail knowledge and passion for beverage quality and consistency.
• Experience leading and rostering bar staff with confidence.
• Familiarity with POS systems and stock management processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead Esther bar team during service, maintaining beverage quality and guest experience.
• Train, induct and develop bar staff with formal plans and coaching.
• Support Venue Manager with rostering, recruitment and wage/beverage cost reporting.
• Oversee stock management, weekly/monthly stock takes and supplier relationships.
• Implement and uphold bar SOPs, opening/closing procedures and checklists.
• Monitor bar presentation and address maintenance or cleanliness issues promptly.
• Contribute ideas to keep Esther's bar offering sharp and current.

The Role

Esther is QT Auckland's MICHELIN Guide 2026 restaurant and the bar is very much part of what makes it tick. We're looking for a full-time Bar Supervisor who knows their craft, leads with confidence and takes real pride in a well-made drink. This is a permanent, full-time role with a minimum guaranteed 40 hours per week. You'll set the standard behind the bar, develop the team around you and make sure every service runs exactly as it should. No ego required, just skill, personality and a genuine love of hospitality done properly.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the Esther bar team during service, holding the standard on beverage quality, presentation and guest experience shift after shift.
• Train, induct and develop bar staff through formal training plans and regular on-the-job coaching that actually sticks.
• Support the Venue Manager with rostering, recruitment and daily reporting on wage and beverage costs against targets.
• Oversee stock management including weekly and monthly beverage stock takes, consumable levels and supplier relationships.
• Implement and uphold bar SOPs, opening and closing procedures and service checklists to keep every service consistent and compliant.
• Monitor bar presentation through regular checks, communicating any maintenance or cleanliness issues promptly.
• Contribute ideas and energy to keep Esther's bar offering sharp, current and worth coming back for.

What You'll Bring

• Proven experience in a bar supervisory or senior bartender role within a premium or fine dining environment.
• Solid cocktail knowledge and a genuine interest in beverage, with an eye for quality and consistency.
• Experience leading, training and rostering a bar team with confidence.
• Familiarity with POS systems and stock management processes.
• A current LCQ/Manager's Certificate and Responsible Service of Alcohol certification.
• Immaculate personal presentation and a professional manner that fits the Esther environment.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required.
