Pak'n Save Kilbirnie searches for the perfect candidate, you will have years of experience, qualifications and references or evidence of your leadership skills, ability to run a profitable department and further meet brand, food safety, health and safety standards to a high level.
The department consists of 4 Qualified Bakers, and 5 Bakery Assistants all working together to create, merchandise and satisfy our customers needs.

- You will be experienced in the following areas:
Operational:
- Enhance the reputation of the business by promoting and encouraging‘best practice’ levels of customer service.
- Ensure sales and GP targets for the department are met or exceeded andthat wage costs are controlled appropriately. Monitor sales and create opportunities toincrease on last year.
- Control ordering for department through effective use of the in-storepurchasing systems.
- Ensuring the shop isfull and appealing throughout the hours of trade, and that stock levels arecontrolled appropriately. Ensure all appropriate signage is displayed correctlyand that advertised product is displayed meaningfully.
- Merchandising thedepartment appropriately, as per the best practice manual. Building attractive/ eye catching displays and ensuring the department merchandising standardsinvite purchases through attention to detail. Manage the layout of the department tomaximize stock visibility to enhance sales potential.
- Undertake the assigned tasks of a Baker as required.
- Ensure costs are keptwithin the parameters set out by Owner Operator. Achieve cost goals through monitoringdepartment systems in an effective and timely manner.
- Manage assigned activities, promotions andinitiatives within plan, budget and resource deployment delegations.
- Meetannual, monthly and weekly targets and review with store owner the sales, grossprofit, contribution to profit and cost targets in line with the store targets,proactively taking action to remedy adverse trends.
Staff Management:
- Rosterto ensure adequate staff levels at all times, keeping in line with wagepercentage targets.
- Assistin recruitment of all team members into thedepartment.
- Ensureall team members receive an appropriate induction / orientation to the department and receive appropriate ongoingtraining support. Train the team members as required.
- Supportthe employees in the department involved in specific programmes / courses e.g. Management Development.
- Manage holiday and lieu day levels to ensureliability is kept under control.
Compliance:
- Ensure merchandising and sales practices complywith the Fair Trading Act.
- Maintain food safety compliance in the department. Complete theTraceability forms as required.
- Have an understanding of health and safety management responsibilities relative to theposition, including:
- Ensuring all methods to identify and manage safetyhazards are fully adhered to.
- Ensuring regular safety inspections are carried out andthat all accidents and incidents arereported and investigated by a trained investigator.
- Ensuring the safety behaviour of all staff, especially new, inexperienced and temporary staff, as well as contractors are properly managedthrough effective supervision and training
