Southern Institute of Technology is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified person to teach Automotive Engineering trades courses to Industry apprentices, fulltime and secondary – tertiary students at our Invercargill Campus. This is an exciting prospect for the right person to join our teaching team.

Responsibilities will include as follows but are not limited to:

• Teaching - responsibility is taken for the management of teaching and learning.
• Student related Responsibility - Maintenance of positive relations with students, and provision of appropriate support.
• Administration - Completion of administrative requirements for programme operation.
• Personal and Professional development - Retaining vocational currency and developing tutorial skills
• Programme Development and Review - Contribution to the evaluation and further development of programmes.

About You

You are a passionate Automotive Engineering professional with substantial industry experience, ready to inspire and guide students in achieving their learning goals. Ideally, you will have:

• A minimum of an Automotive Engineering Trade Qualification (Level 4 or equivalent).
• While previous teaching experience would be a distinct advantage, training is available in this area, with academic staff being required to undertake study towards the New Zealand Certificate in Adult Tertiary Teaching (Level 5) offered through SIT.
