Job summary

Nemesys Ltd in Invercargill, NZ, seeks an experienced project engineer to lead automation and safety projects from scoping through commissioning.

You will coordinate with clients, contractors and internal teams; manage timelines, deliverables and technical coordination across design, programming, installation and startup, and document handovers.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, strong PLC/HMI knowledge, and demonstrated ability to deliver complex industrial projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field.
  • Experience delivering automation or control system projects.
  • Strong project delivery, commissioning and stakeholder coordination.
  • Familiarity with PLC, HMI and safety system concepts.

  • Lead automation and safety projects from initial scoping through to final commissioning.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, and internal teams to define requirements and keep projects moving efficiently.
  • Manage project timelines, deliverables, and technical coordination across design, programming, installation, and startup.
  • Support the development of high-performing control solutions that meet operational, safety, and performance goals.
  • Prepare project documentation, reports, and handover information to ensure smooth delivery and long-term support.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Project Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience delivering industrial automation or control system projects in a manufacturing or process environment.
  • Strong understanding of project delivery, commissioning, and stakeholder coordination.
  • Familiarity with PLC, HMI, and safety system concepts.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
