Job summary

New Zealand Customs Service is seeking a Test Automation Engineer to lead automation-first testing within the Digital Travel portfolio. You’ll design, build, and maintain automated tests and integrate them into CI/CD pipelines to enable fast, secure releases.

You’ll collaborate with product owners, developers, and operations teams to ensure the quality and reliability of traveller-facing services and backend APIs. Flexible working options are available.

Qualifications

• Experience designing, building and maintaining automated tests and frameworks.
• Familiarity with Agile, Product Management and ITIL methodologies, and tools.
• Proven risk-based testing and strategy selection aligned with product goals.
• Experience testing both functional and non-functional requirements, including performance, reliability, security, accessibility and operational readiness.

Responsibilities

• Embed automation-first quality across Digital Travel portfolio products.
• Design, build and maintain automated testing, integrating into CI/CD pipelines.
• Evolve testing frameworks, tools and practices to remain scalable and future-ready.
• Collaborate with product owners, developers, analysts, and operations to ensure fit-for-purpose solutions.
