Job summary

Hospice Tairāwhiti in Gisborne invites you to join our compassionate team as an Assistant Shop Manager. In this fixed-term role (six-month parental leave cover), you’ll help lead our shop and volunteers while delivering friendly, customer-focused service.

Work 15 hours per week across three 5-hour days, typically with every second Saturday, at our central Gisborne Hospice Shop. You’ll handle donations, sales, takings reconciliation, and keep records, enjoying a supportive, community-minded

Qualifications

• Previous retail or customer service experience.
• Strong people and communication skills.
• Excellent organisational ability and attention to detail.
• A full NZ driver’s licence.
• Three days a week (work–life balance).

• Assist with day-to-day shop operations and stock handling – from donation to sale

About the Role | Te tūnga

We’re seeking an experienced, people-focused Assistant Shop Manager to support our Hospice Shop operations and team of dedicated volunteers.

• Fixed-term: Six-month parental leave cover
• Hours: 15 hours per week (typically three five-hour days, including every second Saturday), with occasional extra hours to cover staff leave
• Location: Hospice Shop, central Gisborne

This is a rewarding role where no two days are the same.

• Support the Shop Manager in leading and supporting our amazing volunteers
• Assist with day-to-day shop operations and stock handling – from donation to sale
• Reconcile daily takings, and maintain records

What We’re Looking For | Te Manako
