Job summary

sKids in New Zealand invites applications for an Assistant Programme Manager to support day-to-day operations of our after-school programme. You’ll be the friendly face that makes mornings and afternoons memorable for tamariki, working a minimum of 10 hours per week with shifts from 7am–8:30am and 2:30pm–6:00pm at Papatoetoe Central.

You’ll step up as 2IC, lead sessions when needed, supervise large groups, plan activities, manage behaviour with positive guidance, and build strong relationships

Qualifications

• Eligible to work in New Zealand with valid visa or citizenship.
• Reliable transport to Papatoetoe Central site.
• Experience working with groups of children (OSCAR/childcare/coaching, etc.).
• Willingness to lead when needed and take initiative.
• Calm, firm, and supportive in managing group behaviour.
• Over 20 years old (per regulations).

Responsibilities

• Support the Programme Manager in day-to-day running of the sKids programme to ensure smooth operations.
• Step up as 2IC – lead sessions and take charge when the Programme Manager is away.
• Supervise and engage large groups of tamariki in a safe, inclusive, and fun environment.
• Assist in planning and delivering structured activities (arts, crafts, sports, games, offsite trips).
• Support with managing challenging behaviour using positive guidance strategies.
• Guide and support Programme Assistants on shift to meet expectations and run activities smoothly.
• Build relationships with parents, caregivers, and school staff through clear communication.
• Assist with set-up, pack-down, and preparation of resources for seamless sessions.
• 50% discount on selected sKids programmes; referral bonus up to $250 per referral.
