Job summary

Programmed is seeking an Assistant Gardener to join our Hort team in Auckland. You'll learn on the job and work alongside an experienced Hort team to maintain parks, streets, and gardens across the city.

This role offers training and development with the chance to progress into a qualified horticulture role. You will be part of a friendly, collaborative team at PERSOL, contributing to Auckland's public spaces and gaining hands-on experience in horticulture and turf management.

Qualifications

• Passionate about green spaces and enjoy working outdoors.
• Previous experience in horticulture is an advantage but not essential.
• Take pride in keeping Auckland's streets and public spaces looking their best.
• A clean full or restricted New Zealand Class 1 driver licence and the ability to drive manual vehicles is a MUST.

Responsibilities

• General garden maintenance across parks, streets and gardens.
• Pest, weed and insect control, vegetation management and mulching.
• Pruning, hedge trimming and line trimming as part of routine work.

Job description

Programmed is a leading provider of open space and full facility maintenance services. We are currently looking for an Assistant Gardener to join our Hort team.

In this role, you'll learn on the job, develop new skills and put them into practice as you work alongside our experienced Hort team.

You'll help maintain a wide range of parks, streets and gardens across Auckland. This will include general garden maintenance such as annual and perennial beds, mass plantings and revegetation areas, along with pest, weed and insect control, vegetation control, pruning, hedge trimming, line trimming and mulching.

With the right attitude, you'll gain valuable experience and training, giving you the opportunity to progress into a qualified role and build your career in horticulture.

About You

• Passionate about green spaces and enjoy working outdoors

You'll work 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with some overtime opportunities available at time and a half after 40 hours worked.
