Programmed is seeking an Assistant Gardener to join our horticulture team at Waikumete Cemetery in Auckland. You will learn practical horticultural skills while helping maintain the cemetery grounds to a high standard.
No extensive horticulture experience is required and you will receive hands-on training and support from experienced team members, with progression toward a Qualified Gardener role. 40 hours per week, Mon-Fri; overtime at time and a half after 40 hours.

In this role, you will work alongside experienced gardeners and a supervisor, learning and developing practical horticultural skills while helping maintain the cemetery grounds to a high standard.
Your main responsibility will be to look, learn and act on the skills and knowledge you are shown. You will assist with the day‑to‑day maintenance of the cemetery.
Working at Waikumete Cemetery requires a high level of care, respect and attention to details. You will be part of a team that takes pride in maintaining a clean, well‑presented and welcoming environment for families and visitors.
No extensive horticulture experience is required for the right person. A positive attitude, willingness to learn, reliability and pride in your work are what we are looking for. You will be working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday (5‑days roster).
There is also some overtime opportunity at a rate of time and half after 40 hours worked.
