Job summary

Foodstuffs North Island (Foodies) is seeking an Assistant Category Manager for Emerging & International. You’ll work with small, emerging and international suppliers, providing practical support, commercial guidance and insights to help them grow across our Co‑op.

You’ll analyze sales data to inform product ranging, set expectations and review supplier performance, guiding onboarding through to further ranging opportunities while collaborating with stores and internal teams to resolve issues.

Qualifications

• Customer-focused, commercially minded with a passion for supplier success.
• Ability to build strong relationships with suppliers, stores, and internal teams.
• SAP knowledge considered an advantage; aptitude for learning new systems.

Responsibilities

• Coach and support a portfolio of suppliers on retail journey.
• Use data and insights to inform ranging decisions and supplier performance reviews.
• Guide suppliers through onboarding, store onboarding to further ranging opportunities.
• Be a primary contact for product enquiries, collaborating with stores, suppliers and stakeholders.
• Support supplier events and initiatives to help emerging and international suppliers succeed.

Our Merchandise team works with supplier partners and store teams on category ranging, buying, pricing and promotions so we can get the right products on the right shelves at the right time for our customers.

Te Tūranga – About the role

As our Emerging & International Assistant Category Manager, you’ll help small, emerging and international suppliers navigate their journey with Foodies. Working as part of our Merchandise team, you’ll provide practical support, commercial guidance and insights that help suppliers grow successfully across our Co‑op.

In this role, you’ll:

• Coach and support a portfolio of suppliers as they prepare for retail and progress through their journey with Foodies.


• Use sales data and customer insights to inform ranging decisions, set clear expectations and regularly review supplier performance.


• Guide suppliers through Foodies processes, from onboarding and getting products into stores through to further ranging opportunities.


• Be a key contact for product enquiries, working collaboratively with stores, suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve issues.


• Support supplier events and wider initiatives that help emerging and international suppliers succeed across the Co‑op.
