Job summary

Tūhoe Te Uru Taumatua is seeking an Assistant Accountant to safeguard our financial health by establishing and maintaining strong controls. You will work closely with the CFO and finance team to improve systems and mentor staff.

You will bring at least 3 years of accounting experience, AT or higher, with a solid grounding in book-keeping, compliance and reporting, and you will communicate clearly across the organisation to support meaningful outcomes for our iwi.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in book-keeping, compliance and reporting.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and best practice.
• Experience working with external auditors.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across the organisation.
• Account Technician (AT) or higher with minimum 3 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain rigorous financial controls across the organisation.
• Collaborate on system improvements and train teams to elevate skills.
• Support the audit process and ensure compliance with best practices.
• Report to the CFO and drive organisational visibility through financial information.
