Job summary

The University of Waikato is seeking a Financial Accountant to provide comprehensive financial reporting, accounting and taxation services across the University. Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualification and at least three years' financial and commercial accounting experience.
• Experience in technical financial accounting, financial reporting and audit processes.
• Experience with Public Benefit Entity (PBE) reporting and NZ financial reporting standards.
• Knowledge of New Zealand indirect tax regime and use of finance systems for automation.

Responsibilities

• Support monthly financial close and annual financial reporting.
• Assist with audit, compliance, and balance-sheet reconciliations.
• Handle taxation, treasury and statutory reporting responsibilities.
• Contribute to ERP optimisation, automation and AI initiatives.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across a multi-entity environment.
