Tax Traders, a leading New Zealand fintech, is seeking an Assistant Accountant for the Newmarket team. The role is 25–30 hours weekly, fixed-term for 12 months during parental leave, with a structured handover at both ends.
You will keep finance operations accurate, compliant and on time under guidance from the Finance Director and Financial Controller.
One of New Zealand’s leading fintech companies, Tax Traders’ purpose is to improve equity in the tax payment space so that all businesses can access the benefits that a complex tax system can provide. Our expertise is in using technology to innovate how tax is managed and paid. We do this by providing fully flexible tax payment options for businesses and smart provisional tax tools to accountants to radically improve their workflow.
Our dream is to see businesses flourish and grow so they can be a redemptive force in our world, improving outcomes for individuals, families, and their wider communities. We long to see businesses leading with purpose, placing people first and helping solve the problems our world faces. We long to be a place of healing, joy, and deep satisfaction. We seek to lead with purpose, placing people first and contributing what we can to solve the problems our world faces.
As a proud BCorp, every decision we make as a business reflects our commitment to an inclusive, equitable and regenerative economic system. We were founded on the belief that a tax system should be fair, transparent, and accessible where the benefits and opportunities of that tax system are available to every taxpayer, and not just a select few. We want to play our part in an economy that works for all people as well as the planet.
We’re now looking for an Assistant Accountant to join our Newmarket team on a 12-month fixed-term basis while a team member is on parental leave.
Reporting to the Finance Director and working closely with the Financial Controller, you will keep finance operations accurate, compliant and on time while a permanent team member is on parental leave. The role is 25 to 30 hours a week across five days, fixed-term for 12 months, with a structured handover at the beginning and end.
This is flexible work built around your life, with hybrid working, flexible hours and in-office nanny support for after-school care. You will join a social team that has plenty of fun, inside a proudly BCorp fintech that backs development with professional coaching and an annual Tax Camp conference. A full handover at the start sets you up to succeed, and over 12 months you will build real technical breadth and visibility with the Finance Director.
