Job summary

Morphum Environmental seeks an organised and proactive entry level Assistant Accountant to join our Auckland office. This permanent full-time role offers exposure to management accounting, project performance, invoicing and reporting within a collaborative team.

You will assist with admin and financial activities, AP/AR, and process improvements while engaging across consultants and the business to support performance and payroll leave management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
• At least 1 year of accounting knowledge applied.
• Experience with Xero accounting software.
• Experience in consultancy or SMEs.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the management of all admin and financial activities.
• Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and reconciliations using Xero.
• Support project performance and consultant support.
• Support accounting process development to gain efficiencies across Morphum functions.
• Work closely with the P&C team to support leave management for payroll.

What is the role?

We are seeking an entry level Assistant Accountant to join the Business Performance team based in the Auckland Office. This is a permanent full-time role (40 hours per week).

This is not a traditional accounting role focused solely on transactional processing. As part of a small and highly collaborative team, you will gain exposure to a broad range of accounting, business performance, and operational functions.

The role has a strong management accounting focus, supporting project performance, financial analysis, invoicing, reporting, and day-to-day coordination with consultants across the business. This is a good opportunity if you are wanting more than just technical accounting work and enjoy partnering with people to improve outcomes and support business performance.

What you will do

In this role, you will:

• Assist with the management of all admin and financial activities

• Support project performance and consultant support

About you

• You have a minimum of a bachelor's degree in accounting or similar field (advantageous but not necessary).
• Proven track record with at least 1 year of experience applying fundamental accounting knowledge.
• Background in consultancy or SMEs
• You have been working with Xero Accounting Software and can competently use it in all respects.
• You enjoy building relationships and are comfortable working across different business functions.
• You enjoy identifying better ways of working and improving efficiency and contributing ideas.
• You hold strong environmental values and have a passion for sustainability.
• You actively engage in a culture of teaching and learning and are willing to continuously develop knowledge of tikanga, diversity, equity and inclusion, sustainable outcomes, and low-carbon initiatives.
• You are located in Auckland.
