Job summary

NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi in Gisborne Te Tairāwhiti is seeking an Asset Manager to provide data and technical management support for maintenance and renewal programmes across the state highway assets. You will interpret data, validate field conditions, and help manage the traffic counting contract to optimise asset performance and value for money.

Qualifications

• Experience applying asset management principles and systems to transport infrastructure.
• Ability to interpret complex technical datasets and develop practical maintenance programmes.
• Understanding of pavement engineering and highway surface data.
• Experience in field validation, network inspections, and asset condition assessment.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Asset Management, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).

You’ll interpret and analyse data, validate field conditions, and manage the traffic counting contract to ensure optimal asset performance, longevity, and value for money. Your work will directly support evidence-based investment and operational decisions that keep New Zealand’s transport network running smoothly.

Appointment salary is expected to be from $93,00 to $113,000, commensurate with skills and experience

You Are a Technically Skilled, Detail-oriented Professional With
