Job summary

Napier Boys' High School is seeking an experienced Leader of Learning Area (LOLA) for Arts and Languages to guide a diverse departments including Art, Music, Languages and Māori Studies. You will lead teaching, assessment and student achievement, supported by HoDs, with a focus on coherent curriculum planning and data-driven improvement.

Qualifications

• Proven curriculum and people leadership in a secondary setting.
• Experience delivering effective teaching practice within Arts and Languages.
• Ability to lead coherent curriculum planning aligned with NCEA and NZQA.
• Capability in assessment design, moderation and data-driven improvement.
• Strong organisational, communication and IT skills.
• Experience managing budgets, resources and learning environments.
• Commitment to literacy, numeracy, mātauranga Māori, eLearning and scholarship development.
• Collaborative approach and contribution to NBHS life.

Responsibilities

• Lead Arts and Languages learning area across departments.
• Support HoD’s and drive high-quality teaching and student achievement.
• Develop and implement coherent curriculum plans aligned with national directions.
• Oversee assessment design, moderation and use of achievement data.
• Promote literacy, numeracy and mātauranga Māori across the learning area.
• Manage budgets, resources, equipment and learning environments.
