Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a diligent Architectural Technologist for our Queenstown office in the Eastern Cape. You will develop detailed drawings, prepare specifications, and coordinate with engineers to deliver buildable, regulation-compliant designs.

The ideal candidate has a National Diploma or Bachelor's in Architectural Technology, at least five years' experience, and proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit. Residential and commercial project experience and strong communication are valued.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Architectural Technologist.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit is essential.
• Knowledge of South African building regulations and construction practices.
• Experience in residential and commercial projects preferred.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed architectural drawings (plans, sections, elevations, details) using CAD and BIM software.
• Develop technical specifications and schedules for materials and finishes.
• Coordinate drawings with structural, mechanical, and electrical engineers.
• Ensure design documentation complies with National Building Regulations and SANS standards.
• Conduct site visits to monitor construction progress and resolve queries.
• Assist in tender documentation preparation.
• Maintain drawing registers and project documentation.
• Collaborate with contractors and consultants during construction.

About the Role Our client, a growing architectural practice in Queenstown, Eastern Cape , specializing in sustainable and contextually sensitive building design, is seeking a diligent and skilled Architectural Technologist. This role is essential for developing detailed technical drawings and specifications that translate architectural concepts into practical, buildable solutions. You will work closely with architects and project managers to ensure that designs are technically sound, compliant with building regulations, and efficiently executed. We are looking for a detail-oriented professional with strong software skills and a solid understanding of construction processes. Key Responsibilities

• Produce detailed architectural drawings, including plans, sections, elevations, and details, using CAD and BIM software.

• Ensure all design documentation complies with National Building Regulations and SANS standards.

• Research and advise on appropriate building materials and construction techniques.
