Job summary

Selwyn Aquatic Centre in Rolleston, Canterbury, is seeking dedicated lifeguards for a full-time role on a rotating roster. You will help run the newly extended facility, coordinate with staff, and ensure a safe, welcoming environment for all users.

The role offers paid lifeguard training leading to a nationally recognised qualification, opportunities to develop customer service and safety skills, and a community-focused workplace just 25km from Christchurch.

Qualifications

• Experience in a customer facing role.
• Lifeguard training is provided, must be keen to learn.
• Capable of working in a pool environment and following safety procedures.
• Be comfortable interacting with a wide variety of people.
• Must be able to pass a swim test.

About the role:

Enjoy an active role in our Aquatic Centre where you will play an important part in the day to day running of our recently extended and modern facility. This is a full-time role (76 hours per fortnight) working a set roster. As you work as part of our team you will have

• The ability to work effectively in a team environment is essential.
• Maintain a safe environment for all our customers.
• Delivering exceptional customer service to our facility users.
• Pro-actively supervise the pool environment to prevent incidents, accidents, emergencies, and hazards.
• 77 hours per fortnight on a rotating roster, The hours of work are as follows:

Week One

• Monday -7.00am - 3.30pm
• Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 5.30am - 1.30pm
• Saturday 7.30am 4.00pm
• Sunday 12.00pm - 8.30pm

Week Two

• Monday - 1.30pm - 9.30pm
• Thursday and Friday 1.30pm - 9.30pm

About you:

Our ideal candidate will have genuine interest in aquatics or sport and recreation. We will provide fully paid Lifeguard training where you will gain a nationally recognised qualification, a high level of motivation and be keen to learn.

You will also have:

• Experience in a customer facing role.
• Have a passion for community safety and wellness.
• You are comfortable interacting with a wide variety of people.
• You must be proactive, motivated, and keen to learn.
• Confident swimming ability and be able to pass a swim test.

50m breaststroke

25m side stroke
