Job summary

Scott Technology is offering an Apprentice Fitter Machinist role in New Zealand. You will learn on-the-job and attend formal training to earn a National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering through the Scott Technology apprenticeship programme and Competenz.

As an apprentice, you will work with experienced tradespeople in our workshop and on real engineering projects, developing skills in manufacturing, mechanical fitting, drawing interpretation and quality-focused workmanship.

Qualifications

• Completed at least three years of secondary education.
• NCEA Level 1 in English and Maths.
• NCEA Level 1 in Science, Graphics and Technology is ideal but not essential.
• Pre Trade in Mechanical Engineering Level 3 is ideal but not essential for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

• Manufacturing and machining components.
• Reading and working from engineering drawings.
• Producing accurate, high-quality work.
• Using workshop equipment and manufacturing processes.
• Problem solving and finding practical solutions.
• Working safely and as part of a team.
• Understanding quality and continuous improvement.

NCEA Level 1 English and Maths

Pre Trade in Mechanical Engineering Level 3 (ideal)
