Job summary

A B Wood Holdings is recruiting for Apple Thinners in Motueka and Tasman for a peak-season role this summer. You will be outdoors among apple trees, thinning fruitlets and performing hands-on pruning tasks in the orchard. Expect 30–45 hours per week at around $24 per hour, with work starting mid-November 2026 and finishing just before Christmas.

Local applicants are prioritized. Working Holiday Visa holders with NZ work rights may apply.

Qualifications

• Physically fit and able to perform outdoor orchard tasks.
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather.
• Adhere to safety procedures when using ladders up to 2.5 metres.

Responsibilities

• Thinning fruitlets in the orchard, removing excess fruit.
• Move between trees and carry out hands-on thinning tasks.
• Follow safety guidelines when working at height up to 2.5 metres.

Thinning is hands-on work: you’ll be out in the orchard, walking between trees and removing excess fruitlets. You’ll need to be physically fit and confident working safely from ladders up to 2.5 metres high.
