Ara Poutama Aotearoa - Department of Corrections seeks an Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Clinician to join the Hikitia team in the Waikato Region, based at Tongariro Prison. You will provide AOD assessments, brief interventions, and ongoing support, working with remand and sentenced individuals to promote safer communities and long-term wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Full registration with the Drug and Alcohol Practitioners Association Aotearoa (DAPAANZ) at AOD Practitioner level.
• Current practicing certificate with DAPAANZ.
• Minimum 2 years post-registration experience in Addiction Services.
• NZQA level 7 or higher AOD qualification from an approved learning institute.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive AOD assessments, brief interventions, education, and ongoing support.
• Identify co-existing mental health, wellbeing, and social needs through a holistic recovery lens.
• Build strong therapeutic relationships and support oranga across the service.
