Job summary

SPCA in Wellington is seeking a Customer Service Coordinator to join our Animal Services team. This permanent, full-time role runs Tuesday–Saturday, 8:00 am–5:00 pm, in Wellington-Central.

You will be the hub for customers, volunteers, foster networks and partners, providing timely, accurate information and compassionate support. You will support recruitment and maintenance of foster and volunteer networks, schedule adoptions, triage calls, and ensure strong community presence and responsive

Qualifications

• Animal handling experience or knowledge.
• Experience working with volunteers and fostering networks.
• Influencing and conflict management skills.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to think on your feet and stay composed.
• Positive, friendly approach with customers and team.
• High empathy and resilience for challenging situations.
• Experience in busy environments requiring multitasking.
• Experience engaging with the community in a customer-facing role.

Responsibilities

• Answer queries face to face, over the phone and via email in a timely, professional manner.
• Engage with foster and volunteer networks and support recruitment and coordination.
• Process animal adoptions and discuss matches with potential adopters.
• Triage animal ambulance calls and schedule foster pickups/returns.
• Induct new foster parents and liaise with veterinary partners and community stakeholders.
