Job summary

TSB in New Zealand is seeking a Software Engineer - Android to design, build and maintain Android applications and integrations with backend systems using APIs. You’ll contribute to solution planning, collaborate with cross‑functional teams, and ensure applications are secure, performant, and user‑friendly.

You’ll also support service operations, participate in incident management, and drive continuous improvement in mobile delivery processes and workflows.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of professional software development experience with at least 3 years in Android (Kotlin/Java).
• Proven track record publishing Android apps to Google Play.
• Experience with API-led development and backend integration.
• Strong Android UI/UX skills and adherence to Material Design.
• Proficient in RESTful API design and integration.
• Experience with app performance profiling and optimization.
• Solid mobile security knowledge and secure data storage practices.
• Background in Agile, cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to design, development, testing, and deployment of Android applications.
• Integrate mobile apps with backend systems via RESTful APIs.
• Participate in project planning and technical design for high-value mobile solutions.
• Implement security best practices and remediate vulnerabilities before release.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and improve release efficiency for mobile apps.
• Monitor performance, crash reports, and analytics to ensure stability.
• Participate in incident response and troubleshooting for production mobile systems.
