Job summary

Petdirect is a fast-growing NZ ecommerce and retail business transforming how pet parents shop. The Analytics Engineer will model data, define metrics, and ensure consistent answers across BI tools.

You’ll work on AI-enabled analytics, building scalable data pipelines and dashboards to support strategic decisions from the Avondale office. You'll join a small but impactful Data & Insights team, owning data models, reporting, and collaborating across Merch, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Retail

Qualifications

• 5+ years in BI/analytics or data roles with hands-on modelling and transformations.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with complex schemas.
• Experience with dbt or similar transformation tools and cloud analytical databases.
• Experience with Power BI or similar BI tools.
• Commercial literacy with revenue, margin, cost and customer metrics.

Responsibilities

• Partner with teams to understand business needs and translate them into data solutions.
• Build and maintain data models and transformations; ensure data quality and consistency.
• Define and own business metrics and their definitions for accurate reporting.
• Shape AI capability and expose data to AI tooling in reliable, useful ways.
• Own standard reporting (daily, weekly, monthly) and develop new dashboards as needed.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams: Merch, Marketing, Supply Chain, Customer Care, Retail Ops.
