Job summary

Southern Cross Christchurch Hospital invites applications for an Anaesthetic Technician or RNAA to join our Theatre team on a full-time, 12-month fixed-term contract. You will deliver clinical and technical support to anaesthetists, preparing equipment and assisting patients through their perioperative journey in a busy hospital setting.

We welcome both experienced Anaesthetic Technicians and RNAA, or recent graduates ready to start their career.

Qualifications

• Current NZ registration as an Anaesthetic Technician, or Registered Nurse with a current practising certificate and anaesthetic credentials.
• Strong clinical knowledge and a commitment to delivering safe, high-quality patient care.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with patients, whānau, and colleagues.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
• Sound clinical judgement and a willingness to learn and develop within a perioperative environment.
• A commitment to cultural safety, quality improvement, and maintaining high professional standards.
• A proactive approach to learning, professional development, and evidence-based practice.
• Flexibility to work rostered shifts as required.
• Experience within a perioperative or healthcare environment would be advantageous but is not essential.
• Experience working in a private healthcare setting would be beneficial but is not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical and technical support to Anaesthetists across the perioperative journey.
• Prepare specialised anaesthetic equipment and assist with patient care in theatre.
• Support patients and whānau through the perioperative process in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
