Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora MidCentral invites applications for an Anaesthetic Technician to work with anaesthetists and ICU teams, delivering safe perioperative care across theatres, PACU, and related settings in Palmerston North.

You will be part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team, with opportunities to extend into PACU, scrub assistance, and other perioperative roles. Applicants should be registered and committed to equity and Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles.

Qualifications

• Registration with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand and a valid Annual Practising Certificate.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
• Experience in clinical teaching, supervision, or mentoring.
• Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and achieving equitable outcomes for Māori.
• Full NZ driver's licence (manual and automatic) for on-call duties.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, high‑quality anaesthesia care across theatres, PACU, and related settings.
• Collaborate with anaesthetists, ICU specialists and multidisciplinary teams.
• Contribute to patient outcomes and support extended perioperative practice areas.
• Participate in 24‑hour rostering including on‑call duties.
