Job summary

Southern Cross Wellington Hospital is seeking a casual Anaesthetic Technician to join our Theatre team. You will support anaesthetic procedures, prepare equipment, and help create a calm, safe environment for patients across a range of surgeries.

We value teamwork, flexibility, and a proactive approach to learning. Casual shifts provide variety and opportunities to fit around existing commitments within a supportive perioperative service.

Qualifications

• Current NZ registration as an Anaesthetic Technician or RNAA with a recognised qualification.
• Current Annual Practising Certificate.
• 2+ years’ experience in an operating theatre or perioperative environment.
• Strong clinical knowledge and commitment to safe, high-quality patient care.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Flexibility to work casual shifts as required.
• Experience within a private healthcare environment is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Assist anaesthetists and surgeons by preparing equipment and supplies.
• Support anaesthetic procedures and patient safety throughout the perioperative journey.
• Contribute to a calm, positive patient experience before, during, and after procedures.

Southern Cross Wellington Hospital is a private elective surgical hospital. The hospital features day procedure facilities, five operating theatres and a modern High Dependency unit - all of which allows the hospital to provide for the needs of a variety of patients, including those requiring complex surgical procedures. Clinical services include Orthopaedic surgery, Neurosurgery, Colorectal surgery, Gynaecology, Paediatric surgery, Ear, Nose & Throat, Ophthalmology, Oncology and Urology.

First established in 1992, the hospital has seen significant additions and upgrades on the site over recent years. The new building adjacent to the hospital at 88 Hanson Street houses a state-of-the-art Day Stay surgical facility (Wellington Surgical Centre), Affinity Medical imaging and the Southern Cross Specialist Centre.

Working across a range of surgical specialties, you'll partner with Anaesthetists, Surgeons, Nurses, and wider clinical teams to help deliver safe, high-quality care for our patients. From preparing equipment and supporting anaesthetic procedures to helping create a calm and positive experience for patients, you'll play an important role in the surgical journey.

We're looking for someone who enjoys working in a team, thrives in a busy environment, and is passionate about delivering great patient care. In return, you'll join a friendly and collaborative group of professionals who support one another and take pride in the work they do.

This is a casual position, offering flexibility to work shifts as they become available.
