Job summary

South Pacific Holiday Tour Limited is hiring a Full Stack Developer / Engineer to join our Christchurch team. You will design, develop, and maintain full stack web applications, booking engines, and internal management platforms for tourism operations.

You should have 2–3 years hands-on experience with frontend and backend tech (JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, Python, PHP, Java/C#), database and cloud deployments, and a collaborative mindset.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/IT or related field, NZQF Level 7+ or equivalent, OR 2–3 years hands-on full-stack experience.
• Strong modern frontend skills (JavaScript/TypeScript, React/Vue/Angular, CSS3/SASS).
• Solid backend skills (Node.js, Python/Django/FastAPI, PHP/Laravel, or Java/C#).
• Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and API integration.
• Git, automated builds, and cloud infrastructure experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, architect, develop, test, and maintain full stack web apps and booking engines.
• Develop secure, scalable back-end services and RESTful APIs.
• Design and optimize relational/non-relational databases for reliability.
• Integrate third‑party travel APIs, payments, and external feeds.

South Pacific Holiday Tour Limited is a well-established New Zealand-based travel and tourism company headquartered in Christchurch. We specialise in inbound and outbound travel services, customised tour packages, educational tours, and tailored tourism experiences.

To support our digital transformation, internal booking systems, and rapid business expansion, we are currently seeking a proactive and skilled Full Stack Developer / Engineer to join our team on a permanent full-time basis.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, architect, develop, test, and maintain full stack web applications, booking engines, and internal tourism operations management platforms.
• Develop secure, scalable back-end services, RESTful APIs, and business logic (utilising Node.js, Python, Java, PHP, or .NET).
• Design, configure, and optimize relational/non-relational database architectures (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB) to ensure system reliability and data integrity.
• Integrate third-party travel APIs, payment gateways (Stripe, WeChat Pay, Alipay), itinerary management tools, and external service provider feeds.
• Implement best practices in web application security, performance optimization, and cross-platform compatibility.
• Conduct code reviews, unit and integration testing, bug debugging, and maintain CI/CD pipelines and cloud deployments (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Prepare system architecture specifications, user manuals, and technical documentation.

Key Requirements & Qualifications (Job Check Compliant)

• Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree (NZQF Level 7 or above) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field; OR
  • At least 2 to 3 years of proven hands‑on full-stack software development experience.
• Technical Skills:
  • Solid proficiency in modern front-end technologies (JavaScript/TypeScript, React / Vue / Angular, CSS3/SASS).
  • Strong back-end programming skills (Node.js, Python/Django/FastAPI, PHP/Laravel, or Java/C#).
  • Proven experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL / MySQL) and API integration.
  • Experience with Git version control, automated build tools, and cloud infrastructure.
