Job summary

Oceania is seeking compassionate Healthcare Assistants to join our teams across Christchurch sites in New Zealand. We offer full-time, part-time or casual roles, with opportunities across multiple current and upcoming vacancies.

You’ll support older residents to live with dignity, independence and comfort, delivering person-centred care and building trusting relationships in a calm environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Healthcare Assistant, Caregiver or similar care role.
• A compassionate, patient, and respectful approach to caring for older adults
• Clear communication skills and a strong team-focused mindset
• A commitment to safety, dignity, and resident-centred care
• Flexibility to work a rotating roster, that may include weekends and night shifts

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care in a way that maintains dignity, privacy, and comfort
• Support residents with daily activities such as hygiene, mobility, nutrition, and hydration
• Observe and respond to residents’ physical and emotional needs, escalating concerns appropriately
• Build warm, respectful relationships with residents and their families/whānau
• Create a safe, clean, and welcoming environment that promotes wellbeing and independence
• Follow individual care plans and work closely with Registered Nurses to ensure consistent, high-quality care
• Communicate clearly and compassionately with residents, families, and your wider team
• Take responsibility for health, safety, and infection control practices to keep everyone safe
